28 August 2010, Kuala Lumpur – The prize giving ceremony for the ASTRO Merdeka Individual Rapid was announced to be postponed to the joint prize ceremony for the Merdeka Team event as the last round (7th round) of the Individual Rapid had started 5 minutes past 6 pm.
As such, the organisers had anticipated due to the fasting month, muslim players and officials would have to break their fast at about 7.20 pm or so and not enough time for the officials to finalise the Final Ranking for the day’s Individual Rapid chess event.
